Bastardscrit Charles Darwin was a shy man and avoided public debate, but he still welcomed criticism.

When he first published his theories on evolution, his argument was flawed but thankfully, lots of people wrote and told him so.

He read every single letter and used the continuous feedback to refine his work in later editions. Without the willingness to listen to honest critiscism,  historians think Darwinism may have stalled before it really began.

By the way, in his lifetime Darwin’s best selling book was actually about earthworms.

This is great food for thought. As a new blogger I’m only recently getting a good share of criticism.
Like any other human being—I want to be liked, and taking criticism doesn’t feel like people liking you.
But deep down inside I know it’s a very positive thing. To motivate people into action is much, much better than apathy. And criticism often has a way to leading to refinement and improvment.
    If you let it.
    Thanks for the post.

I actually think people need to like you, or at least respect you to give constructive criticism – why would they make the effort and risk conflict otherwise?
