Daydream. Scientists think it’s one of our most complicated activities, the way we shape ourselves and become aware of those things we’ve felt without thinking. We need time to allow those thoughts to unfold. Lots of empty spaces that precede stumbling on the unexpected. Being bored is important sometimes. The brain sometimes needs a chance to rearrange itself. Sometimes we just need to be free to do nothing.

We all need some not thinking time.

Well said NP – or should I just refer to you as ‘N’?
I think that is one of the reasons why SUDOKU is so popular because people can ‘switch off’ from life and focus their attention on something completely different and immune from the trials and tribulations of normality.
Which is upsetting as my wife bloody loves playing it!

Call me N, sounds like I work for MI6 – even more important than M (which means my PA will be even fitter than Moneypenny)

By that reckoning, why don’t you call yourself ZZ – that would guarantee Angelina Jolie as your personal tea maker.
Oh, all your global bosses are in town on Friday for the World Effies – would you like me to perform some CAMPBELL DISRUPTION on them?
Just say the word, you can then live out your MI6 Boss fantasies 😉

True NP,but as planners we just cannot stop ourselves from thinking and thats a kind
of habit we have cultivated. And habits are hard to change… and as Rob has rightly commented the only time we dont think is when we are fast asleep.
