Baby Room

Mum and Dad live in Cornwall, which will be 400 miles away from, soon to be born, Baby Northern. Naturally they're less than pleased about this.

They live in St Ives, which is probably the most special place in the world to me. My child doesn't know it yet, but he she will be spending lots of time building sandscastles, playing in the sea, learning to surf and stuff.

So I've solved the 'do we paint the room in girl or boy colour?' problem by doing neither. It's on the way to being a painting of St Ives, where Grandma and Grandad live.

Replete with harbour, Tate Gallery, Grandma and Grandad's house, seagulls and boats..and lots of artistic license.

Like Rolf Harris says, can you see what it is yet?

Hey Northern that is really, really, really, really, really, really good. I love that. Nice one.
Now. On to practical matters.
I am to conduct an exotic swimming challenge imminently and need some swimming training advice.
What is the minimum length of a pool I should consider in order to do endurance training ? Is 25m long enough ?
How fast is the average swimming speed ? 2 miles an hour ? I mean for LONG distances.

25m is fine – length of pool I mean, I presume you’ll actually swim a bit further than that.
A good distance swimmer does about 3 miles an hour.
Mr average should do between 1 and 2 – a mile is 70 lengths(ish) of a 25m pool.
Intriguing……..
