This reminds me of an APG course I was recently on where the topic of conversation briefly turned to how cynicism was a negative trait… I challenged this at the time as it felt completely at odds with the role, with doubt, skepticism, cynicism, disbelief etc etc all (in my opinion) incredibly important.
I guess the key is to be it positively not curmudgeonly (or at least most of the time…)

The only thing I would say is that being a skeptic is invaluable – questioning everything
But cynicism – refusing to accept everything can be a problem
Nit-picking I know, which funnily enough is one of the traits others deplore in planning types

Yup, agree with than (skepticism not cynicism that is, rather than nit-picking being deplorable 🙂
